Prescription Drug Abuse Deaths

Prescription Drug Abuse deaths far out number the deaths caused by street or illegal drugs. The movies would have us all believe that cocaine is the drug most used and the cause of the major number of fatalities. A report released by the Florida Medical Examiner states that three times the number of deaths are the result of prescription drug abuse than a combination of all other narcotics. These numbers do not include deaths by accidental overdose, just the use of prescription drugs for non medical purpose.
Prescription drug abuse deaths are watched closely in the state of Florida due to the lack of a state wide monitoring system. Legislation to implement such a system has lost favor due to privacy concerns. A report conducted by The Substance Abuse an Mental Health Services Administration states 7 million persons ages 12 and up have used prescription drugs for reasons other what that drug was prescribed. The report goes on to say that 2. 2 million young adults ages 12 to 25 show the greatest increase in abuse of pain relievers.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement looked at 170,000 deaths and found that less than a 1,000 were the result of illicit street drugs, alcohol was to blame in the deaths of another 500 cases and 6,142 were as a result of non-medical use of a prescription drug. Florida Drug Rehab Centers show a marked increase in admissions to their Drug Detox units for drugs like Vicodin, OxyContin, Valium and Xanax. These are substances that can be found in medicine cabinets in homes across the country. Prescription Drugs when used for medicinal purpose and as directed can be a blessing but when misused or stolen and used as an illicit drug they can be deadly.

Sex Addiction Treatment Program

For years there was no one even spoke about sex addiction, much less a sex addiction treatment program. As with drug addiction and alcoholism, the first step was recognizing that sex addiction did exist and was treatable. Most sex addiction treatment programs are integrated into mainstream treatment programs with special attention paid to that particular dynamic.

Some sex addiction treatment programs are incorporated into other specialty programs such as sex addiction treatment and eating disorder treatment or a sex addiction treatment program and a center specializing in addiction treatment of the gay and lesbian population. In either case, treatment for sex addiction is best accomplished in a residential setting as the structure allows us to break the cycle and participate in a comprehensive program of therapy.

Since many of the people looking for a sex addiction treatment program are in need of dual diagnosis treatment, it is important to insure the program you choose can meet your needs. Whether requiring treatment for depression or bipolar disorder, eating disorder or drug addiction, look closely into the services provided and who provides them within the addiction treatment program. For help finding a sex addiction treatment program or any other addiction treatment program call 1-800-993-3869.

Gay Drug Treatment Program

A gay drug treatment program is designed to create an environment that specifically caters directly to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. This can be very helpful for those who would feel less comfortable in other traditional drug treatment programs. What one can expect in gay drug treatment programs is an open and friendly environment. With a staff of professionals and a community of patients that have dealt with similar issues, these drug treatment programs can be very effective at turning the focus on the most important issue of all which is taking steps towards recovery of drug addiction.

These centers tend to have a focus much like other drug treatment programs in terms of medical and psychiatric treatment and clinical programs. They generally begin with some type of drug or alcohol detox where the individual discontinues their use of drugs or alcohol and provided with medication to assist in minimizing the symptoms associated with withdrawal.
After the detox phase of treatment is complete, everyone transitions to a more traditional drug treatment program. It is here they will begin to address their core issues and meet head on the very problems that have fed their drug addiction.
Finally, the program will tend to finish with some type of aftercare program which will usually consist of out-patient counseling sessions designed to help the individual avoid relapse.

As you can see, a gay drug treatment program is really not too much different than any other drug treatment programs. With that being said, many gay men and women prefer not to attend a “gay only drug treatment program. They state they want to attend a program that resembles the real world and treats them as equals.

If you fall into that category, you might want to look into the Freedom Rings program at www.gay-rehab.com or call 1-800-993-3869 and they direct you to it.
