RECO(very), a new kind of patient care

“Coming out of rehab was not the end of the story but the beginning. Getting sober is one thing—I did it hundreds of times—but staying sober is a daily challenge in which there are moments when it comes together and I felt certain I’d done the right thing, then times when it was painfully hard,” wrote Amy Liptrot, author of The Outrun: A Memoir.

RECOver

As an aftercare program located in Delray Beach, Florida, where we know the power of Liptrot’s words—and recognize the daily challenge of sobriety of which she speaks.

For clients that have recently completed treatment at a residential facility, the vast unknown of long-term sobriety often leads to relapse if continued care is not made a priority. As a team, we aim to bridge that gap.

We have operated RECO Intensive in Delray Beach for five years, beginning as a trauma-focused program coupled with equine therapy on our ranch. Today, we provide addiction treatment tailored to the individual, accredited by over 20 leading organizations in the field.

REposition

Our founder, David Niknafs, found sobriety in Delray Beach in 2008.

After both attending and working for multiple treatment programs himself, David acknowledged an intrinsic need within the shadowy domain of early recovery. Determined to raise the bar for transitional care, he took his experience in the field and launched his own Residential Housing Facilities, known as the RECO Institute. From there, his dream program only continued to grow.

Along with Director of Operations Christopher Pasquale and Director of Community Outreach Brian Greenblott, David has expanded RECO Institute to include five residential facilities (soon to expand) that are offered in conjunction with the RECO Intensive outpatient program.

REfocus

Through the evolution of our program, our focus has remained—and will always remain—on client care.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the relapse rates for drug addiction are between 40 and 60 percent. Each individual will create their own path to sobriety, and for many, that path will include intensive outpatient and outpatient therapies.

Through incorporating clinical groups that are normally associated with a residential level of care, RECO clients are able to continue their therapeutic progress in a secure and safe environment. As a transitional program, we aim to shift the client’s focus toward attainable goals, such as finding meaningful employment and rebuilding relationships.

REnew

As clients live in our Residential Facilities and attend IOP programming four days per week, they have full access to staff while sustaining responsibilities. After a significant period of time spent immersed in the emotional, physical, and psychological processes associated with detox and residential treatment, the client is able to experience freedom from addiction while also upholding a renewed commitment to self.

Learning these skills is crucial to success. Through our groups, like CBT, DBT, and family systems, IOPs teach clients through modalities that are familiar to them.

An essential part of recovery is consistency. Through providing clients with the tools to succeed in their early recovery, an effective intensive outpatient program is another step toward consistent growth.

And begin again

As Liptrot so eloquently stated, completing treatment does not create an ending—it creates a beginning.

Aftercare is a continuation of just that: a beginning, with a new story to tell.
