  2. Myth: Alcohol isn’t dangerous.
    Fact: One out of every three people from ages 18-24 admitted into the emergency room is under the influence of alcohol.
  3. Myth:Women and men can drink the same
    Fact:Although weight, body chemistry and other factors play into how much alcohol an individual can consume, the truth is that women process alcohol differently than men and therefore get more intoxicated and more impaired then men.
  4. Myth:Having a few drinks is okay.
    Fact:Just a few drinks can impair a person’s ability to drive or their decision making process. At a blood alcohol level of .04%, an individual’s vision becomes impaired and their focus is not what it was.
  5. Myth: Beer doesn’t have as much alcohol as hard liquor.
    Fact:  One can of beer has the same amount of alcohol as a shot of 80-proof liquor or 5 ounces a wine.
  6. Myth: I can drink more because I can hold my booze.
    Fact: As you grow a tolerance to alcohol you become more apt to suffer from alcoholism.
  7. Myth: It is okay to drink before the age of 21.
    Fact: The longer that a person waits to drink the better chance that they will be able to avoid problems caused by alcohol.
  8. Myth: Effects of alcohol can be diminished.
    Fact: Depending on a person’s weight it takes approximately two hours for a person to eliminate the alcohol content in two drinks. Nothing speeds this up.
  9. Myth: I am in control when I drink.
    Fact: No matter how well a person thinks they are in control when they are under the influence, drinking impairs judgment and leads to poor decision making.
  10. Myth:I need to drink to fit in.
    Fact: It is very likely that your friends and family do not drink as much as you think they may.
