A Hopeful Life After Addiction

Many addicts in recovery build new lives out of the chaos of active addiction. Although, they turn their lives around, the wreckage of their past doesn’t go away. For former reality star, Alexis Neiers, one of the major mistakes she made while addicted to drugs is being played in movie theaters around the country. However, this young woman has risen from the chaos and is building a life she can be proud of after completing drug rehab.

The Storm of Addiction

Neiers starred in the reality show “Pretty Wild” on E! in 2010 when she was 19. The show followed her and her sisters as they partied their way into the Hollywood social scene. However, the allure of celebrity and fame was a catalyst for her downward spiral.

She was involved in the now infamous “Bling Ring,” a group of teens who burglarized the homes of several celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Orlando Bloom. She was arrested for her participation in the burglary of actor Orlando Bloom’s home after the pilot aired.

She reported that during this time, she was addicted to heroin, OxyContin and Xanax and stole from her mother to pay for her addiction. She served 30 days in jail, but was arrested again for possession of black tar heroin. Instead of jail time, she was sent to a drug rehab center for an entire year.

Rising from the Ashes

The girl portrayed in Sofia Coppola’s new film, “The Bling Ring” is a far cry from the young woman, Neiers has become. She is now married, a mother and a certified drug and alcohol counselor. She is currently starting a drug rehab center for teens and young adults struggling with addiction.
